EnergyVision and SNCB reach first milestone in rollout of public EV charging stations across 420 railway station car parks
GHENT – In just six months, around 500 electric vehicle charging points have been installed and are now operational at the car parks of more than 100 railway stations across Belgium.
SNCB and energy provider EnergyVision have officially commissioned six new charging points at Waterloo railway station, marking an important milestone in one of Belgium's largest EV charging infrastructure projects. Travellers can now charge their electric vehicles at the car parks of more than 100 railway stations. By 2027, all 420 stations with a car park are expected to be equipped with charging facilities, representing a total of 5,000 charging points.
In October 2025, EnergyVision, in partnership with SNCB, launched the nationwide deployment of EV charging stations at Belgian railway stations. Just over six months later, the project has reached its first major milestone: more than 100 stations are now equipped with charging infrastructure, providing over 500 operational charging points. EnergyVision and SNCB remain firmly on track to equip all 420 station car parks with charging facilities by 2027.
The rollout will accelerate over the coming months, with the next phase focusing on stations equipped with high-voltage substations, where multiple additional charging points will also be installed.

Travellers can charge their electric vehicles at EnergyVision charging stations located in SNCB car parks at a competitive rate using 100% renewable electricity: a €2 connection fee plus €0.35 per kilowatt-hour (kWh). To discourage vehicles from occupying charging spaces for extended periods, a rotation fee of €1 per hour will automatically apply once a vehicle has remained connected for more than 18 hours.
Nationwide rollout continues
Charging stations have already been installed at railway stations throughout Flanders, Wallonia and the Brussels-Capital Region. The next phase will ensure that every Belgian province is covered. If the project continues according to schedule, this major deployment will be substantially completed by autumn 2026. By 2027, all 420 railway stations with a car park will offer charging facilities, representing approximately 5,000 charging points nationwide.
Following Mont-Saint-Guibert and Blanmont, each equipped with two new charging points, Waterloo has become the first major railway station in Walloon Brabant to receive EV charging infrastructure. Archennes, Limal and Pécrot will follow in the coming weeks.
