EnergyVision expands access to plug-and-play batteries for all households with solar panels

05.05.2026

GHENT – Following a successful initial roll-out of plug-and-play batteries with no upfront investment for EnergyVision customers with solar panels, the company is now further expanding its range of smart energy solutions. From now on, all customers in Flanders and Wallonia with solar panels not installed by EnergyVision can also use a plug-in battery without any upfront investment. In this way, EnergyVision is making home storage accessible to an even wider group of households who want to get more out of their own solar energy and further reduce their energy bills.

Following a successful initial roll-out of plug-in batteries to customers with EnergyVision’s own solar panels, the company is now extending this solution to customers with their own solar panels. This initial approach proved an instant hit: an initial mailing to customers yielded a conversion rate of over 60% within 24 hours. With this expansion, EnergyVision is responding to a reality in which it is becoming increasingly important to utilise as much of your own green electricity as possible. Anyone who is or becomes a customer of EnergyVision and already has their own solar panels can therefore, from today, also opt for a simple battery solution without any investment, so that they too can get more out of the solar energy they generate themselves.

Maarten Michielssens, CEO: “The added value of a plug-in battery is growing rapidly today. At peak times, solar panels often produce more electricity than a household needs at that moment. Instead of feeding that surplus back into the grid, a plug-in battery allows it to be stored for later use. This enables households to make better use of their own green electricity at times when grid electricity is more expensive, whilst at the same time spreading their consumption more intelligently and better managing peak prices and the capacity tariff, without the need for a significant investment in a traditional home battery.”

EnergyVision has deliberately opted for an accessible solution. The plug-in battery has a capacity of 5.12 kWh and is available via a subscription of €12 per month, including all costs such as the Bebat contribution and registration with the grid operator. The battery is fully plug-and-play and easy to install yourself. From the summer onwards, customers will initially be able to collect them themselves from our collection points in Ghent or Jette and install them straight away, so they can make the most of sunny days and use more of their own green electricity. Home delivery will follow, after which customers can install the battery themselves. The savings can amount to up to €230 net per year. The solution also remains financially attractive in the long term: the total cost over 10 years is lower than the retail price of a comparable battery today.

According to Michielssens, this expansion fits perfectly within EnergyVision’s broader model: “We want to offer customers not only stable and low tariffs, but also help them get more out of their own energy. With this battery solution, we reduce their energy bills, increase their comfort and alleviate a number of concerns in an increasingly unpredictable energy market. At the same time, we are continuing to build a sustainable model in which customer loyalty, smart local energy consumption and reduced pressure on the grid go hand in hand.”
