EnergyVision enters the Walloon energy market with green power and the cheapest plan

12.09.2025

Belgium’s fastest-growing energy supplier is from today also active in Wallonia, effectively breaking open the energy market there. With a unique formula, Belgian company EnergyVision now offers all Walloon households extremely long protection against market price fluctuations.“We achieve this by keeping our own electricity production very local, green and therefore inexpensive,” says CEO Maarten Michielssens. “In this way, we can lock in about one-third of the energy bill at a fixed rate for at least ten years. The longest formula ever on the Belgian market.” EnergyVision also immediately has plans to offer free solar panels to households in Wallonia and to further expand its production with wind energy. “Our goal is to make the energy transition both feasible and affordable for everyone.”

With an average annual bill of €1,305 for electricity and €1,686 for gas (1), energy costs still take a considerable bite out of the average Walloon household budget. Distribution costs are expected to rise further next year (2), and continued electrification (heat pumps, electric cars, scooters, batteries, …) will likely increase electricity consumption as well.

“For many families, high bills make it difficult to achieve the much-needed energy transition. By focusing on our own local, green power production, we want to change that. We do this primarily with the launch of a unique energy contract that protects households in the long term against price shocks while also allowing them to benefit from price decreases. Over the past year, tens of thousands of households in Brussels and Flanders have already signed up for this new formula, which can also be combined with fossil gas.” — Maarten Michielssens, CEO of EnergyVision

One formula

Specifically, EnergyVision offers one fixed-variable energy contract. No tangle of complex contracts, but a clear offer that lets households know exactly where they stand. The formula contains a unique guarantee: for 10 years, a fixed rate applies to 1,000 kWh per year, at the lowest tariff on the Belgian market. For the remaining consumption, households pay a variable rate. In this way, they are assured of stable and affordable energy.

“Even compared with the popular group purchases in Wallonia, our model often turns out cheaper. We combine the best of both worlds: security and flexibility, without hidden costs or complex contracts.” — Meghan Richil, Commercial Director at EnergyVision

For electricity, EnergyVision starts immediately with broad supply in Wallonia. In a limited number of municipalities, connection formalities are still ongoing, which will be completed shortly. The rollout of gas will take place in phases, pending the approval of several grid operators.

Free Solar Panels and Wind Energy Expansion

EnergyVision is not only a supplier but also a producer of energy. For more than ten years, it has been generating 100% green electricity thanks to the hundreds of thousands of solar panels it has installed in solar parks from Ostend to Durbuy and Liège, as well as on the rooftops of more than 20,000 private homes in Brussels and Flanders.

“At present, the rule of a ‘ligne directe’ still makes it impossible for us to also install solar panels free of charge at Walloon households, thereby lowering their bills even further. We are confident this will change. We also want to quickly add our own wind power production. Wind blows mainly at night and during the winter months. That would be a good match with heat pumps and would once again give the energy transition a push in an affordable way.” — Meghan Richil, Commercial Director at EnergyVision

That EnergyVision is expanding into the Walloon market right now is no coincidence. The energy company recently went public, creating financial room to invest even more in democratizing green energy. In addition, EnergyVision had already received more than 1,000 online applications from Walloon households. Over the past year, they were placed on a waiting list and this morning were the first to receive an offer.
