EnergyVision Annual Report 2020

P R E FA C E PREFACE SURREAL . . . UNIMAGINABLE. . . AND NOW LET’ S GET GOING! “We feel as if we were living in two parallel universes.” “It was an unimaginable year. All our certainties fell away. At the same time, it was an unforgettable year.” We have just said goodbye to an unforgettable year. But when we look back on 2020, we feel as if we were living in two parallel universes. In one universe there was the non- stop worry about the wellbeing of our loved ones. There was grief surrounding all the deaths – and especially the terrible news that our valued friend, colleague and director, Johan Milliau, left us on 13 July 2020. We kept a close eye on the various situations unfolding around us: how the virus brought the global economy to a standstill, how the international political climate might influence the years to come, and how the bumpy road to economic recovery might play out. In the other universe, 2020 brought a smile to our faces and, above all, great pride to our hearts. After a brilliant end to 2019, 2020 was the year that more than crowned our achievements. When the coronavirus pandemic struck, we took far-reaching measures to keep growing in our three markets. The robust EnergyVision business model, combined with the drive of the EnergyVision team, turned 2020 into a great year. We achieved all our strategic milestones. On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I would like to thank the EnergyVision team for their commitment, integrity and customer focus. I also want to thank our customers for their support, trust and partnership. The EnergyVision team and the Board of Directors have not been resting on their laurels: we are remaining alert in this new world and have been drawing up strategic growth plans for the coming years with great passion. The best is yet to come. Proudly yours, Maqsud Bilal Chair of the Board of Directors EnergyVision What a year. What an eternity. So much has happened. Nothing has changed. And yet nothing is the same. One year ago, the title of our Annual Report was: “Ready for the Future”. EnergyVision had just come to the end of its best year ever, and was looking to the future full of optimism and hope. And then came the coronavirus. You can read more about how our organisation dealt with that terrible virus with the pretty name elsewhere in this annual report. There is just one thing I want to say here: I am incredibly proud of the agility, tenacity and perseverance of our teams, and profoundly grateful for our many good customers. It was an unimaginable year. All our certainties fell away. At the same time, it was an unforgettable year. We grew and kept on growing, we launched new initiatives and projects, and we are coming out of the crisis strengthened and united. The results speak for themselves: almost double the number of projects, solar panels installed, our revenue is more than 70% and our profits are more than 43% higher than in 2019. We have reached milestones that we had only hoped to achieve in 2022, built a pipeline for 2021 that is already indicating an even better year than ever before . Behind the results, however, are the stories of fantastic staff and customers. On the following pages, we will take you through the strange year that was 2020 for one last time. Our growth was fantastic, but let’s not ponder it for too long: the future is waiting and it is going to be fantastic!
